Ebay message to me:

Block certain buyer from bidding on or purchasing your items.
This may reduce the chances of your item selling, so use with caution.

My messgae to ebay:

I've had the blocks in place for ages and never had the -1 feedback ticked......until recently. A new member who had a combined buying and selling account. They bought one item and got positive feedback. They sold 2 items and got negative feedback, which made their feedback -1. I figured they could potentially buy from me, so I ticked the box.

I know that their one purchase was a positive experience, but who knows after getting 2 negs.

You forgot the one about putting every boardie on your blocked bidders list, particularly those you dont agree with or just plain dont like.

If I were selling, I would definitely be ticking the boxes.

Many years back when I sold with my sister (under a different ID) we eventually found the spot where we could customise it a bit and we ticked boxes to stop bids from buyers who were in the minus with a score (as they certainly could be back in those days).

My sister also recently went in to start blocking overseas bidders.

No one wants to stop a newbie bidding as we all have to start out somewhere, but if someone has been collecting unpaid item dispute notices or has a minus number, why take a chance? At the very least if those buyers get blocked, it may help to give them a wake up call that there are consequences.

I hope it's also a wake up call to ebay, that sellers are not here are not to be taken for granted helping ebay increase it's bottom line.

Once you restrict buyers, word gets around. Sellers will feel it a little, ebay will feel the sum of it.

I have got a potential non payer at the moment.

Blocked on 9 January for too many unpaid strikes 800+ feedback.

Purchased on the 9 January with low feedback ID

That low feedback ID has a comment about non-payment from a seller *sigh*

How do I know for sure its the same buyer ?

Inkfrog - only one IP address viewed that item on several occassions on that day !!!

Blocks might deter some buyers - but not others - far toooo easy to whip up another ID.

If only eBay would uphold and enforce the buyer policies not controlled (as such) by automatic blocks.

What that could do for marketplace confidence....

a girl can dream, anyway....
