I'm selling a brand new computer only to see links to the same item at unrealistic prices from major suppliers and other external links. Wonder if it would be appreciated if I advertised links to other auction and online stores in my product description.

Different people will see different advertisements, the link on your listing goes to an item on Amazon UK on my computer.
If you want to compete then you too will have to pay extra to advertise on the site, if you don't want to do that then you either have to accept that ebay keep their fees down by selling advertising space or don't use the site.
If it is any consolation I only ever click on those items if it is in response to a post like yours, if anyone who reads the boards has ever purchased an item through an external site instead of from ebay please come and let us know. I don't expect a great rush of posts!

I went searching for Microsoft Office before. all these sellers selling OEM is one thing, but the advertising everytime i go from page1, page 2 etc is really a pain with the pop up (worked out how to stop it) and then theres some other verical garbage obn the right of the screen
To be honest, I stopped looking before because of too many ads and my computer goes slow because of it

I see all the ads at the bottom of your listing and they're very catchy. If someone scrolled right down, I'd imagine the ads would get some clicks.
One thing you could do is change your description somehow to discourage people scrolling all the way down.
