Variations: buyer just bought a size I no longer stock - thanks, eBay!!

So, I had four sizes of a particular style of glove listed. Two sizes have sold out, but eBay being the home of counter-intuitive numptiness, I can't remove a variation that has sold out of stock.

Why? Because I've sold some of that variation. Seriously.

So, I changed the listing to reflect this. Changed the title to state the available sizes. Made sure the "available quantities" in the non-available sizes were set to zero:

Clearly stated in the item description that only "S" and "XL" were available:

So, I've done everything needed, right? Wrong. Sold a pair last night. Guess what? Yep...

Medium. The size I've said isn't available. The size that eBay has whited-out in the selection box. Somehow, this rugged individualist has still managed to purchase a pair. How is that even possible??

And it's not the first tme this has happened...

eBay just don't get that if you sell four times more of one size than all the others, you're therefore more likely to run out of that size at some point, and will therefore need to be able to remove the variation in order to stop the above from happening. But, no - if I run out of a size, the only way to "remove" that variation is to delete the listing entirely, and start an identical new listing with the out-of-stock variation not included.

Yeesh...

Your listing must have shown one available in the medium size when the buyer made the purchase as it is not possible to select a size if it is greyed out and showing as out of stock.

My guess is that when you did the revisions it didn't save correctly and it kept the quantity as one as the listing doesn't show any revisions being done for quantities.

Whenever I revise a listing once it has been saved I then double check the actual listing to make sure all the information has been updated correctly by ebay to avoid this type of problem.

Yes Jen...

I make sure I do this exact check too.

I have found that it does not save sometimes despite saying it has.
