I just deleted two unsold items, I very rarely bother relisting, it works out to be tooooooooooooooooo expensive.
I also deleted the albums from photobucket.
Just out of curiosity I viewed my Completed Listings & found the photos [all HTML from photobucket] are still well & truly embedded in the listings.
Once upon a time if you deleted the photobucket album the photos vanished.........now they don't.
I understand with SOLD items we need to retain photos for the 45 day protection period, but can see absolutely no need to keep them for unsold/deleted items.
Are we turning into china, where everything is HEAVILY controlled ?

I have found that when I edit photos in photobucket that it takes some time for the embedded photos in my listings to show the edited versions. Perhaps the photobucket links continue to show the photos until they are updated by photobucket, like a site update. Likewise, although you have deleted the albums on photobucket, perhaps the photobucket servers still have the images there until the site is updated. Check those listings again in a couple of hours and the pics may have gone.

Try moving your pictures in photobucket to another album. I discovered three of my listings last night had no pics in the description, and once you move them in photobucket they disappear in your ebay listing:^O

Too late to move the pics to another album motherbear, I deleted them from photobucket.
Just checked my deleted listings [as they still show in my Completed Listings] & the photos are still there. Seems we have no say in anything on our computers anymore lol.
leader-of...if I ever attempt to do anything re REVISE your item I have issues. Re photos taking longer to appear, if Revising your listing you HAVE to click the PREVIEW YOUR LISTING before submitting it or the photos take quite awhile to 'swap over'.
I've found I cannot underline, highlight, change font size, make words bold, etc when REVISING a listing.
Even attempting to ADD a word causes the whole page to immediately' dive' to the bottom of the page [as in when I click the area I want to add the word - the whole screen goes troppo & the only thing I achieve is I get to see the COUNTER. I have to scroll back up again & re-click where I wanted to place the word & THEN it allows me to do it].
What ever happened to simple & uncomplicated in this world ?????

Cookies?
I found when sharing photos on the boards, going back when we used the old HTML method, I could delete them from PB, yet they'd still be on the thread for ages.
Just saying this could be the case. Maybe others won't be able to see them?

Web browsers include a feature called a "cache", in Internet Explorer termed "Temporary Internet Files". The cache stores images and pages viewed on the web (including on eBay). When any page in which those images appear is subsequently visited those images are displayed from the cache instead of actually being fetched again from the host.
Unless the cache is cleared previously viewed images may continue to appear for a long time after they have been deleted from the host. Mind you, this situation only exists for those who have previously viewed. Anyone new visiting the pages in which the images appeared or visiting the image URL directly won't see them.
Also understand that the cache and potentially proxies (discussed below) save their copies of the originals by file name. If a file is altered the cache will display the old version.
This is the procedure to try: Rather than clearing the entire cache it is possible to force a refreshed view of the page and the images it contains by simply clicking to reload/refresh the page in the toolbar at the top of the web browser.
Very much less likely to explain this particular situation, the web also supports what are called "proxy servers". Those are additional places on the web that copies of images and pages may be stored and retrieved from. Typically such proxies routinely update themselves but there could be a delay before they stop storing copies of files deleted from their original storage location.
