What happens in the sorting office?

Yesterday I had someone, in Brisbane, buy an item so off to Ipswich post office it went when I got home they had purchase another to try to make it so they got both together I got it ready and did an extra post got there about 4:30

I just check the tracking for the items on the way and the first box was delivered today the other is sitting at Underwood. Now surely both parcels went from Ipswich PO to Underwood on the same truck and surely they would/should of been treated the same at Underwood so why when it came to loading them on the delivery truck did one get on and the other get left behind?

I am sure it will get delivered tomorrow (I hope so anyway) it just confuses me how this could happen

Are you looking at tracking from your ebay sold page? I find ebay sold page very slooow to update with tracking, but that just might be me.

If your post office is anything like mine, they have trucks pick up mail at least 2ce a day.  For me its around 1pm and then at 5pm roughly.  So it is very possible that your parcels left your post office at different times.

Possible but I do not think so I have asked and the post officce I use only has 1 pick up a day at 5pm allthough that makes some sense. I wonder if the PO worker I asked got it wrong

Most post offices have two postal pick ups per day.

Regardless, Ive sent and received many items over the years - posted on the same day / same time from same company or seller, received different days. Its not unusual.

I'm not sure how many my local has, but I know they do have a pick up around 4.30pm, then another just after 6pm. I used to get mad because the sign on the red box said 5pm, yet I'd caught the white van lady there around 4.30pm plenty of times. I used to bust my gut to get my stuff in before 4.30 thinking if I didn't, it would be left until tomorrow. It was only when I overheard them telling another customer that there is another pick up just after 6 that I found out about it. It took a lot of pressure off me then. They don't close until 5.55pm, so it was much easier when I finished work at 4 to not have to bust a poofle valve trying to get there in time.

Tippy, I think you will find that the red postbox is cleared at the time posted on the front of it.

The second pickup is for the items handed over the counter......at least that is the way it works at my local PO.  The truck pulls into the loading dock at the side and takes all the parcels and special services mail....registered, SOD etc.

I doubt that the red box would be cleared a second time so close to the first clearance.

In the Sydney CBD the red boxes are cleared 5 or 6 times a day but the POs themselves do not get as many clearances.
