What has gone wrong on Ebay!!

Hi all, Sorry I am having a bit of a rant but am a tad frustrated by the selling process at the mo.

I havent been a seller for a good long while now, just a buyer, but thought I would get back into selling.  In the past as a seller, I rarely had to wait for my buyer to pay for what they bought.  Now I have 3 items sold and monies outstanding!  One as long as 8 days now and not a word from the buyer.  I have requested contact details and, of course, the number doesnt exist!

I think I will be scared back into not selling anymore as I dont think I can deal with these frustrating buyers!! Is this the norm now or is it the exception?

Yes, it is worse than ever.  Non paying bidders all over the place.   It is all the time.  I heard it's a bunch of sellers doing this as hoping to get Ebay's attention on double standards.

I know this may sound like paranoia , but I did recently slipped  up and posted under my business name recently.... when I was going through this thread , I was intrigued that this post did not rate a response from anyone.

As we have several  unpaid items at the moment on business account , I would hate to think this is true.

Since reading comments on the boards we have changed to a softer approach .....send an email after 4 days and politely ask.....if they have sent direct deposit as we can't locate payment and also advise that we hesitate to send to non payment as this may result in them receiving a strike , which may effect their ability to buy from other eBay sellers........ this works well........but we still have a high rate of non payers who ignore all emails ....we start non payment process after a week.... and hope they don't pay and get nasty.

We have had a couple of  buyers who have strung this out to an extra week by sending a cheque......in the mail.....but it worked out in the end......but took 3 weeks to finalise an $8 sale . Cheque is not a payment method that we accept for this reason alone.

...gee it is hard .....when we actually have face to face buyers with cash in hand and we cannot sell the item to them.

Blocks in place .......so don't know what else to do.

I have had occasion to view quite a few of answers you have posted in regard to the various topics raised in these forums and have noticed a certain pro-eBay bias in them. I may be wrong though, as I am not exactly a regular. For my edification, I would appreciate a link to any anti-eBay post you have ever made here or are you simply a paid eBay apologist?

I agree with you billycan. A long while ago answers used to be posted by ebay staff as well as members ,and they were clearly marked as such. There are now  3 or 4 who reply constantly and have lterally 1000's of posts but very  low feedback scores. Go into their listings and there are no listings either. Excuse has been given that they have other sites they sell on but, given the number of posts on these boards, they can't have much time to do so - most of their day would be spent in penning replies. A bit suss to say the least. And yes, most of them defend and support Ebay policies and regulations but nothing ever seems to get done about member concerns, particularly with non payers , no negative feedback - except to repeat what most of us know anyway .

I must agree. eBay is going downhill. Have just started selling again. Last time I sold was six years ago. Defaulting buyers were extremely rare. This time around the stats for items I have listed are > 50% winning bidders not going through with the purchase. A lot of wasted time and lost sales opportunity.

Yes I have struck more non-paying buyers than ever before.

And the funny thing is too, when I look over my list of blocked bidders, it is a single page with about a dozen on it ???

My blocked bidders log always used to be pages, and pages long.   Not sure what is going on.

Very confusing to me.
