Why aren't my items selling

Greetings,
After many years selling on ebay US I am trying my hand at Ebay Australia. I am still learning about the prices things sell for here.

I have many items listed for auction but so far my sales rate has been low. I seem to top out around $200/month (which I assume is too low to be due to sales throttling...?)

Would any of you be so kind as to tell me why you think my sales aren't going better? Are there any obvious changes I could make?

I would love to lower my prices further but since I offer free shipping, dropping my prices much more means I wouldn't make any profit. However, I am still interested in what you think about my pricing and any other reason my auctions aren't more successful.

Also, most of my items are only available for purchase in Australia. I could consider opening them up to international sales, but I am concerned about buyer fraud if I do so...

Thanks in advance for your thoughts!

Thanks to everyone for your thoughts. I loved hear your advise on the photos and the descriptions.

I opened a store because I am planning to list a lot more items...if I decide that I want to continue selling on Ebay.

Tippytoes, I think you should educate yourself on Kerastase. Although I didn't really like the product, it sells for $45-$55 new, so my price is fair, IMO. Also, "Why aren't your items selling? Probably because no-one wants them at the moment." Quite honestly that is not helpful advice. No need to be salty.

I never saw that product but my advice would be pull it off ebay immediately & if you want to, relist on gumtree.

My feeling is even if it is a product that was allowed on ebay, selling something like this that has been used leaves you open.

All a buyer would have to do is state the product had gone off or spilt or whatever and you would be hit with having to give 100% refund.

How on earth could you prove it hadn't deteriorated or spilt? So easy for a buyer to smear a bit.

If you list on gumtree (if allowed) and someone comes to pick it up, they could look at it first and if they go away with it, more likely you'll have a better sale.

I predict you won't get $28 or whatever for it though, even if new price is $45.

That's over half price. Unlikely to happen. I wouldn't say no one would buy it but I'd guess the buyers wouldn't be wanting to pay much more than $10-15 for it.

But.. I am not expert so it would be interesting to hear how you get on with it.

Ha! You are cute. If this is your stab at Aussie humor (humour) try again 🙂

Nothing humorous about David's post....he is quite correctly pointing out that a Koala is not a bear, despite what people in the USA may think.

Yeah, but Americans think kangaroos hop down Pitt St, everyone has them as pets, kids ride them to school, and that you can get in a taxi at Mascot and be in Perth in 25 minutes.

It's nice to see that the OP has removed the offending listing, fixed the photos up a bit and also fixed most of the titles up. At least now it looks like the main keyword is in uppercase and the rest how it should be.

I never said koala was a bear, I just put terms in my search that others commonly use. In fact I used software that suggested I write that title.

No doubt it was American software....as I have pointed out, listing in the USA and Australia are too very different scenarios.  Have yu even read the Australian Policies?    Listing silver/gold tone items as silver and gold is very definiely a no-no here.

There was no need to be snippy with David....he only pointed out the fact that a Koala is not a bear....it was certainly not an attempt at humour.

Regarding listing silver tone and gold tone items, I have updated my auction adding the word "tone" to both the images and the description. Would this be adequate for Ebay and for buyers? The reason is "tone" (with a space) requires 5 more characters out of an already short title.

Where my confusion lies is that gold and silver are not only a metal but also a color. As in "what color blouse is that?" "It's a gold blouse." I am not trying to mislead buyers, but are my necklaces not a color (gold or silver)? To say a shirt is gold, one would not assume it's 24 karat.

Is it true that in this market, the word gold in the title is assumed to mean not a color but 24 karat??

I hope you can understand my confusion and I appreciate the advice. Do you think having the words "tone" in the image is correcting the issue enough?
