nobody wants books ive found. theyre bulky junk that are impossible to get rid of, they have NEGATIVE VALUE most of th etime because there's an associated cost with disposing of them.
i stuggle to sell them anywhere, and even worse because of the way AusPost calculates shipping (width of item) the minimum shipping fee on them, even small books like a pocket dictionary is normally about $9.00, making them even more impossible to get rid of. ive had buyers try to scab a four book bundle off me for $1 and i took it because i knew nobody else would buy them anyway.
NEVER buying a book again becausae when or if you ever wanna re-sell it you know you wont be able to get rid of it without dumping it in a charity bin somewhere (where it'll just be thrown in a regular bin after most likely).

You only pay if you go over your included freebies.
40 for you, 600 at least if you pay for a store.
You asked the question. The consensus is that books DO sell, for most booksellers.

even if you guys have a point, i still stand by my thesis that books are one of the worst categories to sell. truth be told, everything has been getting worse to sell on ebay since the 2000s. i could clear nearly everything i sold even if it was junk i found at a garage sale back then, now its cricket chirp city, with some categories of items nearly completely out of the running.

If you're totally OVER selling books - donate them to your local library.
Yes - they will/may be sold at their book sale days - but you know your books are going to a good home plus supporting your local library too. Win, win in my book.
When I eventually get to listing the last of my books - then I'll have to look at the non-selling sets & possibly donating to the library or re sorting the sets into smaller lots.
Clearing out my books has been a work in progress for nearly 6 years & I'm finally seeing the floor again...
I had accumlated over 16,000 books *sigh*
My main objective now is to try & recoup some of what I spent over the years... (if possible)

My thesis is that books pay my internet, phone and electricity bills, with a bit left over.
I have sold over 6000 books in 11 years, so it works for me.

Sounds like you came here to be argumentative with posters who are trying to help, can't see the point myself.
Can't sell books ? Won't take any of the of the good advice offered? Don't bother reading the posts ?
You have too much time on your hands, chuck 'em in a Salvo's bin and save yourself the angst.

the advice has mostly been "raise your prices, that will somehow make people buy your junk"
yes, a site that is choccers full of bargain bin hunting scabs will be turned on by price hikes
nobody wants to buy my books at whatever price point i put them, im just going to dump them for free bc theyre clearly so niche theyre borderline worthless and no one wants em

That's one interpretation.
Marketing is a thing - there are whole jobs based around it. So is buyer perception - price plays a pretty significant factor into a buyer's perception.
What it comes down to is - if you don't value your items, why should someone else?
