As far as I know the only discount you can make is in the postage.

No, the only thing is remove postage.  You could go into paypal and send money back.  Don't refund, just send money to them.

Or you can give them some free product.

ok kinda makes it hard to give someone a discount say they buy 3 items and then ask for a discount would be nice to be able to reduce the amount......

I think all you can really do is cancel the transaction and relist the items as a bulk lot for the buyer to repurchase at a reduced cost. Remove all keywords from the title. Change it to something like "items for <username>" so it doesn't appear in people's search results. Best if it can be done if you know the buyer is online at the time. You send them the item number so they can buy as soon as you relist them so no-one else accidentally finds them and buys them first.

Maybe send a note and a little freebie, if your items allow, thanking them for thier continuing patronage.

Or a small cash amount in with the parcel - but remember the fvf will be calculated on the full price, so up to you.

I used to add a 'gift voucher' with email details advising the customer to contact me prior to the next purchase, and I could then organise a special listing for them.
