I'm fairly active on meetup, and have started investigating setting up an eBay meetup. There are quite a few in the US, but only one small one in Aus (Melbourne).
I think it seems a fairly obvious thing to do, to start an eBay meetup here in Sydney, particularly with the Driving Business Online roadshow being run by PayPal.
I'm puzzled at the apparent lack of current activity. So my questions ...
* Any who knows of similar groups that started and closed, and their history.
* Anyone interested in starting such a group in your local area ? If so, let's network.
I've also contacted PayPal DMO and cheekily asked if they might set up some infrastructure and support to encourage the formation of such groups.

I have no idea what you are talking about so could you post a link or maybe explain it here what you are looking at doing.
I m sure I'm not the only one with no idea.
Thanks.

It's where total strangers who only know each other from here go and have lunch or something.

Hi, On the Power seller forum, there is quite often meetups around the country. I think there is one being organized for Sydney at the moment.

Okay, I've found and joined the PSF, and a "Subscribe To ...." bar has appeared, so that's those two issues answered.

Is meetup a butcher's convention ?

That is a privately organised group. The powerseller board link is only visable to sellers who qualify for PS status and you aren't required to sign up for anything. It is automatically enabled when you reach powerseller status (just like this board is open to members without having to join any special group).
I believe there are often get-togethers organised on the Community Spirit board if you are looking to make new friends. If you are looking to meet business contacts then a small business group may be more suitable.
