If CQ's suggestion doesn't work, it could be that the HTML text was copied to the standard tab (I actually do this occasionally by accident when I list items, so switching between the tabs doesn't work because the standard view is returning all of the text input).
To fix that, highlight all text, then cut and paste it into the HTML tab (quickest and easiest way is by keyboard shortcuts - CTRL+A to select all text, CTRL+X for cut, switch to HTML tab then CTRL+V, then switch back to standard - the select all, cut and paste options can all be accessed by right-clicking, as well).

It's actually very easy. You just need to click on the drop-down box to the right of your active listing where it says "More Actions", and click on "Revise". When your listing comes up, scroll down to the description window and at the top left, where it has the two tabs named "Standard" & "HTML", simply click on "Standard", then make sure it looks the way you want it to, and you're done.
Now scroll to the bottom and save your listing and the item description will now appear properly in searches.
This is what it looks like at the moment.
This is what it will look like once you click on the "Standard" tab.
