how do i cancel a transaction

Hi,

sold an item and posted it to address on paypal and ebay and it returned back to me - was for a friend's birthday. Don't really understand how the friends information was on paypal and eby. The buyer said to send it to their address. I suggested either I receive more postage or we cancel sale and I will refund cost of item. Can anyone tell how how to cancel the transaction? Thanks

To the right of the sold item is a drop down.

from the drop down click on resolve a problem and follow the prompts to send an agreement to mutually cancel.

It is the buyer that has the ability to change the address they want to them to be sent too when they complete check out via paypal or they can change the ebay details as well if they want to.

So sending it to the address as seen on the paypal payment is the correct thing to do.

When you refund them ONLY refund the item cost NOT the postage as it is not your fault it was returned.

Do you mean when you have the sold item in a list? I can't find any problem tag. Can you explain what page I'm on to do this? Thanks

You might have to to do the partial refund first for the resolve a problem option to show.

So if they paid with paypal go to the payment and to the right of they payment (if it is not past 45 days since you got the payment) there is a refund link.

Click on that and enter the amount you are going to refund and follow the prompts to get that done.

Then the resolve a problem might show when you click on the drop down to the right of the sold item.

If it still is not showing then call ebay and they can do it for you.

Hi,

Thought I'd let you know how I went with cancelling transaction. I did the refund of the item cost, but nothing changed on the dropdown box beside the item. In fact, the automatic processing seemed rather confused about what was happening and it returned to item not paid.

Through seller help I was able to locate a cancel transaction link and did it through there. Thanks for your responses.

For future reference you can go into Resolution Centre and then click 'Cancel Transaction'.
