aust post has just announced ,charges will increase,on most postal servises,!!
and weights will be adjusted also ,so a cd will be charged up to a 500g price point(in some cases) not the 250g it now enjoys,
with the current problem buyers have with looking for items,re the catagory selection,
this will be another blow for many sellers

Australia Post raises their prices twice a year and has done for many years. It is only a question of which services are affected each time.

The 250g pricing point for domestic parcels was discontinued in April.
Standard pre-paid (non C&S) satchels are going up and some(?) Express satchels. And International services.

If c&s are not going up then rather than being a blow it will be an advantage to those of us who no longer use red or express satchels;-)

my understanding is that
1. The weight categories for small international parcels are being consolidated into one <500g category, so the price break on the <250g goes - so a price hike of $7 on parcels that weigh under 250g
2. Satchell prices to increase.
3. At the same time as increasing the cost of satchells performance standards for delivery times are being degraded - effectively an extra day is being added to the delivery times.
Australia Post obviously are having difficulties with meeting their stated delivery times and their solution is to get rid of the problem by moving the goal posts rather than trying to fix it (while inceasing the cost at the same time).
Good one!
Now - where is that article about improving national productivity!

Does that apply to letter rates under 250g going up by $7 too?

Quote
Domestic parcels Prepaid Parcel Post Plus 500g, 3kg and 5kg satchels will increase by an average of $1 per satchel.
Prepaid Express Post 3kg satchels will increase by an average 6.9% or 90 cents per satchel.
All other domestic Express Post satchels prices are unchanged. From 22 October 2012 the published delivery standards for domestic regular parcels (Parcel Post and over the counter assessed parcels) will be changing with the addition of one extra day to the delivery standards.
For example, the current delivery standard for regular parcels from Sydney to Melbourne is 2 days. This will change to a range of 2-3 days.
