it always confounds me that I can have 9 out of 10 buyers of a particular item that leave feedback along the lines of the item being exactly as described and have no issues
then you get ONE who leaves you positive feedback then rates you poorly for item not being as described ???
ebay would say that this is the buyers opinion and so it must be correct that the item was not as described however what about the majority who say differently
it is the one out of ten who defect unfairly that will see the end of my days trading on ebay as I am only a small seller and each defect makes an impact
and so another one bites the BBL

It would be interesting to know what their excuse was, especially with a brand new item. Maybe they couldn't find shoes to match, or they got an uneasy vibe from wearing it. I get really angry when buyers hide behind a positive dot. There should be a system in place whereby you can't leave 1 or 2 stars with a positive dot.
In fact, I would probably reply to their positive feedback with something like "<username> left positive feedback and rated not as described? Was there a problem?" Or something like that which would fit into the reply box.

When leaving feedback and/or awarding star ratings buyers need to know the difference between product reviews and rating a sellers performance.
A neut comment which is a buyers opinion such as ' It wasn't the colour blue I was expecting', it was shorter than I thought (when exact measurements are provided in listing) is a product review not an indication of how well the seller carried out the transaction.
