my seller rating has been reduced based on feedback but it is increasingly difficult to get feedback will Ebay be taking this change into account?
Why can't the total number of sales be shown to prospective customers rather than just feedback - which is nonsense anyway as it includes purchaes i as a seller make.
It is a poor measure for both customer and seller

What do you mean? On this id your fb is 100% and your star ratings are high.

Whilst the OP's post notes feedback as the issue, they may have be including the DSR ratings given at the time of feedback as well. Or it may not.
In any case, am*3 so you are aware feedback and seller ratings relate to overall seller performance levels and feedback and dsrs left impact on these.
The three performance levels are: Top Rated Seller, Above Standard, Below Standard

To show eBay's logic, I am an Above Standard seller on this ID. That I haven't sold anything on in years.

In some (but not all) ways, they do.
When it comes to defects, it's worked out as a percentage of the total number of transactions, rather than as a percentage of the feedback you've received, so if you've had 100 transactions but only received 50 FB / DSR ratings, 1 of which resulted in a defect, it would be counted as 1/100 (transactions) instead of 1/50 (feedbacks).
I think other assessment criteria is still based on total FB received, though.

There should be a default rating after a few months if no feedback is left... I don;t think a lot of buyers leave feedback though if they are unhappy. If I was like meh I wouldn;t/

Yes, I am aware of that.
Still like to know exactly what the OP meant.
They seem to be blaming the lack of feedback given by their buyers for their woes.

Defects as DG posted above are % of transactions not % of number of feedback left.

Funny you should mention that as I am also an above standard seller on this id and I haven't sold anything since February 2009
