Hi everyone, as an honest seller I am pretty irked by a buyer who has not replied to any messages and it has been 6 weeks since the sale ended. What is the policy here on length of time allowed before I send around the hit squad? Can I leave negative comments on their feedback? Di I just relist and forget about it?
Thanks
Phil

You need to read up on the UnPaid Item case Process. In short, you can make an UPI claim after just 4 days and then they have 4 days to pay. If they don't pay then you can get your Final Value Fee refunded AND then you can relist.
Don't let yourself get 'irked' . . . . especially by letting it stretch out to 6 weeks.
Sellers can only leave buyers +ve feedback OR no feedback. Sellers who leave a +ve rating for a buyer with a negative toned comment can get a policy violation from eBay as well as the buyer having the right to get the comment removed.
When you list items make sure your Bidder Blocks are in place. This will automatically stop buyers with more than 1 non-payer strike in the last 12 months from bidding on your items. The effectiveness of this process relies on sellers doing the UPI thing so that strikes are issued. Do yourself, and ALL other sellers a favour and start the UPI thing today.

neither or your poll answers are correct
6 weeks? why wait 6 weeks when ebay says to open a non payer dispute after 4 days??
no seller can leave a neg. so that dont come into it
relisting should only be done after the 1st transaction is completed/ cancelled. eBay will charge final value fees on both sales if you dont complete/cancel the 1st one.
maybe go to the ebay site map at bottom of any ebay page and read up about how to sell before you make any further mistakes.

You have 36 days to open dispute to get your FVF back. Forget the hit squad; just re-list. Hope it was not too expensive, as you will have to pay FVF again when it sells.

What have you been waiting for - a miracle ?

The non-payer has 60 days before they can no longer leave feedback, so there's still a good 20 days left. If you re-list, they could very well leave a neg. I would wait until the 60 days has passed, unless it's absolutely important that you list this item.
Give the hit squad a break for three weeks, they've earned it. ๐

ok... well a couple of things i have noticed.
You sold a little bit of stuff in December (6weeks) and a good deal of it had more than one bid.
So try the following first.
(1) Gain the buyers phone number by using the link supplied in the site map and the listing id reference number. RING the buyer.
(2) dependant on the phone call (leave a message and contact number if you get message bank. BE NICE ๐ ) speak with buyer about payment concerns and discuss options.
(3) Wait 24hrs for a return call. If no return call, submit a mutual cancellation of the transaction through ebay.
(4) wait 7 days as buyer is given this amount of time to respond. If they dont respond, you win.
(4) Ebay will close case and you will get your final value fees credited to your seller account.
(5) Either offer it as a second chance to the underbidder OR relist.
I would be curious to know if the buyer has continued to ebay or has simply vanished off the face of the earth?
If you can give us the listing title of the item that person won, we can check for you ๐
(dont mention buyer name or listing ref number here.)
cheers...
next time, dont wait 6weeks ok ๐

It's better to open a non paying bidder dispute. When you close it you'll receive your fee back and ebay will place a strike against the buyer's account and you can't receive negative feedback. If you receive negative feedback during the dispute it will be removed if they haven't emailed you or paid you.

ok...but I would first check if they are still trading on ebay first.
Still trading: open NON PAYING BIDDER DISPUTE
Not trading: open MUTUAL CANCELLATION REQUEST.
person could be hospitalised for all we know. I would hate to see someone get a strike when its out of their control.
