But would it cover you for paypal if the item was sent with no tracking and no proof of postage supplied by the PO even if you have a photo?

Probably not, but the point was photographic evidence can and will work if it shows the information required by PayPal and used in conjunction with other acceptable evidence, including - but not limited to - a receipt showing the buyer's postcode. Considering you can get that quite easily and say something similar, a photo with the buyer's name and address with the postage clearly paid (not in affixed stamps, but a label generated at the PO) is as good as a receipt with the buyer's postcode; which - if nothing else - would simplify an appeal of any PayPal decision.

Ive used security footage to fight Paypal twice now, and won both times. Each time the customer had claimed receipt of less items than advertised - so photographic evidence does contribute to some instances of fraud. Also useful for peace of mind, and to verify that correct items were in fact sent, if questioned:-)

A photo of the parcel including the address and tracking number may provide corroborating evidence if there was a problem with the tracking but it could not be used in isolation as proof of anything other than that you have taken a photo of the parcel.

Sorry, each to his or her own, but I can not  understand why anyone would go to all of this trouble, why don't you just send using a safe post method ?

There's a variety of post products available with tracking

- click and send ebay satchels

- click and send regular - using your own packaging

- prepaid satchels with tracking or your own parcel with tracking label attached - just start a mail register  and stick tracking labels on this and get post office to stamp when they are scanned and lodged

TAKE A PHOTO WITH YOUR MOBILE PHONE

I have to wonder just how I am meant to do that? I have a very old, basic mobile phone that makes and receives calls and text messages, that is it. It does not take photos, it does not allow me to muck up ebay transactions by having apps, it does not have predictive text so I actually have to input whole words and it does not cook my a full fried breakfast lol.

Instead I just prepare parcels using click & send which automatically uploads the tracking information to ebay, lodge them over the counter and then forget about them.

Click and (forget) send is only good for tracking within Australia IF the sender physically takes satchel to PO/Aus Post agency and physically hands satchel over the counter to be scanned. If sender/seller just registers the satchel online and then posts (in their own time) into a post box the buyer/recipient cannot get any tracking details on the Aus Post website Tracking Tool/s.....messages like 'manifested' with NO DATE is not at all satisfactory. If seller/sender hands satchel over the counter and satchel is scanned the Aus Post tracking states a date & time when scanning was done, location this was done from, and also states'CUSTOMER LODGED....'

Wow......

I am seriously wondering why I am being charged for a 'trackable' postal service, over and over when 25% of the time (since April 2013) I cannot get any tracking info?

After the 'event'/satchel has arrived is not a good enough time for the info to appear! I mean, this is then, in my opinion, giving 'traceable' info on a past event.

I would have thought that offering 'tracking' on an item would enable a buyer to keep tabs on when and where the posted item is at on each stage of its journey.

Maybe I am expecting too much.

How do you expect the tracking to show an event if you just put it straight into the post box? Until each box has a built in scanner that ain't gonna happen! If you want tracking to show earlier than during or after delivery you have to lodge the parcel over the counter.

I invested in some please scan on delivery fluro labels - for a few cents each the scan rate on delivery has increased significantly.

Just an idea for consideration for those who are only able to, or choose to, send parcels via postbox.

That sounds like a good idea. Did you get them from eBay, Cats?

Don't blame me. I didn't vote him in ...

Yes, I got mine from ebay.  I have been unable to find Australian ebay seller, but found a great US seller.

Item title is PLEASE SCAN ME International Reminder Stickers Labels Red Flourescent 500/rl

The seller combines post and always sends super fast, I am in Victoria, and I usually receive within 7 - 10 days, and have also received quicker.

There are a couple of other overseas sellers on ebay that have similar products too. Been shopping around more locally, and there are companies in Australia that will do similar stickers for similar total price, they are just not on ebay.
