Hi all,
I have been requested to give a refund which is fine. I gave a very clear description of the item, and stated that there is a no refund policy, however I am willing to give a refund in this instance but I do not want to give back the postage. How do I do this on ebay?
I look forward to your answers
Thanks
Tara

I think it would be wise to read Ebays policy on returns and ring them if you are not quite sure about it and your states consumer affairs can help

whats the reason for the return, change of mind or something else?
you can have a no refund policy but in reality the buyer can allways return an item regardless
i find it best to make the buyer happy, they return the item, i repay the original price plus postage both ways.
unhappy buyers can become nightmares.

Go to your PayPal payment, click on it & select the amount you want to refund

first question is why the refund?
if as stated for a change of mind i think you can insist the buyer pay return postage but you can not withhold the first postage cost
if for a SNAD or faulty item then you the seller must pay for return postage and refund all purchase costs.

For change of mind if your return policy is no returns or refund of item price only then you most certainly can withhold the original postage cost.

ok but why is that? the seller did not pay for the original postage but i assume they can with-hold a small handling fee.

Original postage costs aren't refundable in change of mind cases (unless it's done voluntarily) because the seller can not get the money paid to Australia Post back (or whoever was used), meaning if postage costs are refunded, the refund comes out of the seller's pocket.

but like i said...the seller did not pay for original postage the buyer did.

If I give you $10 and you buy lunch with it, then I ask you to give me the $10 back, did I pay for your lunch?
Buyer gives seller $10 for postage. Seller gives Australia Post $10 for postage. The seller now no longer has the buyer's $10 for postage, Australia Post does, and they won't give it back because the postage service was purchased and used.
If the seller then goes on to give the buyer that $10 back, where does it come from?
