what is a fair price to charge for combined postage on items

I always think a fair price to charge is what the post and packaging costs me. Most of my stuff I have listed as a FLAT RATE postage no matter how many they buy, to try to entice people to buy more than one, or other items, then they only pay the most expensive. Personally if you can fit 2 of the item in for $6.95, I`d only charge that amount. If it means you have to go up to a bigger box, and its going to cost you $10.00, charge $10.00

A couple of my items that I have listed with $6.95 postage I charge $3.00 per extra item to a cap of $15.00

The way I look at it, I`m in the business of maing a profit on the stuff I sell, not on the postage

I'm a buyer.  If a seller does not stipulate postage-costs within the item-description, I message them via eBay to find out what they intend to charge for postage.  If their version of 'combined postage' is greater than the actual postage-costs charged by Aust. Post, then I hit the back-button.  This applies to non-breakables, of course.  If the item was breakable and the seller had to invest dollars in bubble-wrap, I'd be prepared to pay a few dollars extra.  When it comes to clothing, however, I won't pay extra because it takes a matter of seconds to push one, two or three items into the same bag.  And by buying multiple items to go into one satchel, I'm actually saving the seller time and effort compared with what they'd have to invest in sending several items to several different sellers.   There are some sellers around who state in their item-description that they charge an extra amount for each item if a buyer buys multiple items from them.  My question is 'Why, when they can all go into the same bag?'.  Why?  Just because they think they can?  Oh well, they'll have to sell to someone else, because I can see no justification in their trying to grab several extra dollars from the person who bought more than one item from them.  If I buy several items from a retail store or market-stall, they don't charge extra because I bought more than one item from them

hi

depending on if the item is breakable or not and where it going to?

but mostly i use satchels and will put as much in as i can with packing it safely

500gm.3kg.15kg satchels.cause they also have tracking

but i only charge what aussie post charge no more

we all usually have cardboard and boxes lying around to pack well with

if they need to be boxed cause they are very delicate and breakable

you can check aust post site or pack it up take to aust post and find what to charge

if its gonna cost heaps more talk to buyer and see if they want to send them seperately and pay seperate post

whatever is best for the items and the best postage price

I use my standard postage charges (which DO include a small amount for packaging materials, polo).

For example, today I sold 2 books, each of which separately would be a 500g satchel, but both of which can (just) fit in a 500g satchel. So the postage cost is for both in 1 x 500g satchel, at my standard charge for such.

I charge Aus post rates (normally $6.95) plus $2.00 for packaging. As I sell dolls house items you can get a lot of them in a postal box and still be under 500g. It is cheaper for me to combine like this as it costs me less in bubble wrap with there being less spaces to fill and only 1 Paypal fee. With this in mind, I include a little gift as a thank you.

I charge the cost of the postage plus up to $1.00 packaging and handling (less if the item is small or fits into a plain envelope). If I overcharge inadvertently or a buyer doesn't wait for a combined invoice (and providing they have paid with paypal), I refund the difference. For those interested, I usually do about 15-20 refunds a week for multiple items purchased, but paid without waiting for an invoice.
