In your opinion what are the key elements to success on ebay as a seller and how do you go about achieving them?
i want to become a great seller on ebay who is busy all the time with sales.
But i have a lot to learn im sure.
as far as sales go, i am new . last week i had nearly 20 items in a day sold.................. today - none !
yesterday i listed a new item. sold 5 pieces that same afternoon - today , the same ad is dead !
how do we attract buyers to our store consistantly .
What turns buyers away
what do most buyers look for in a purchase.
any help and ideas and experience is welcomed.
Thanks so much

I have nothing useful for you nmatey, but i did want to wish you good luck in your endeavours.
Well maybe, easy to understand descriptions, with that "just right" level of information. Not so much that you spend an hour scrolling and not so little that you have no idea about basic things you are bidding on iykwimn
Oh, and use paragraphs in your descriptions or kinda spread them out - it does my head in having to sort through this one long continuous dialogue.

You cannot expect to have the same level of sales every day even if you have hundreds of items listed, you really have to look at the bigger picture. To me a great seller is one that puts customer service at the top of the list and if you do that the rest will follow.
Very few people can make a living selling exclusively on ebay and to do so have to put in many, many hours of work and above all be adaptable and don't think that works this month is going to work as well in three months time.
It says in this book I am reading that by 2065 80% of women will be overweight.
See what a trendsetter I am?

phorum junkie , what you are saying sounds right, and you sound like an educated seller , but i see a feedback profile of 111 , and forum posts of well over 4600 . why is that ? do some people who post on here use an alternative ebay account to join in the forum? like a discretion thing ?

hi
this is just my opinion as a buyer
when i look at listings i want a clear title
accurate postage costs shown
a really good description including any measurments
i want sellers to respond to any questions in a timely manner and polietly
i want sellers to post in the time frame they state after cleared payment
good pictures at least 2+more if they can
really good prices and to remember to tick item as postage
and add tracking number if used
and if they are sending registered please state that in the listing so i know to stay home to sign for it
its a pet pieve of mine when it says standard but ends up being registered and im not told that by the seller
and space out descritions not all in one line i back out of these ones
wow im pretty fussy LOL tara

Hi Motor, yes, lots of us have different accounts for buying (personal and business), selling (stores and auction account/s for the 40 free listings on each before they started all the 100 free listing thingy's, or just to keep different items seperate from each other, or the business/ personal thing again
and then lots of us also have an ID used primarily for posting with. (like this one - I buy a few things on this account if I forget to swap, or if I am purchasing something off another board member that I recognize I will use this account so they know who I am.

I'll answer for pj.
Because
Yes
Yes
I sold 9 items to 9 sellers the other day. A one day record. Which doesn't mean I expect to sell 9 yesterday or today, which is a good thing as I didn't. And I also don't expect to sell 9 tomorrow.
As far as IDs are concerned, a good rule of thumb is to look at the information rather than the alleged (feedback) experience of the poster.
For example there is a member running around with more feedback than I (allegedly) have, but less than PJ (allegedly) has, who has posted several hundred posts and has not managed to provide accurate information in any of them.
So, if you work on feedback for member credibility, you would be very disappointed if you applied her advise against mine. Given that mine is based on experience and knowledge, as against who knows what, but none of those.

ok, first question, are you certain that your international postage prices are right?
I just looked at the ducatti light thingies and it says $US 7 (ish) but that might be cos it's using my post code, I don't know.
