....to Aust post or to ebay?
500g satchels works well for items thicker then 20mm but would be too expensive for buyers to consider them for posting a magazine.
3kg satchels are always good value for combined postage.
It would be just spot on for me if you could send off printed matter that weighs up to 250g and up to 500g with tracking for the price of regular postage or cheaper.

oh hang on, small parcel AP regular rates for up to 500g is $6.95 now, and ebay flat rate 500g stachels are $7.15 + the cost of the bag... so its still cheaper if you wanted tracking for standard AP postage on a small parcel.
say if they produced a ebay flat rate 250g large letter envelope for $2.00 + the cost of the envelope and a 500g for say $3.20 + the cost of the envelope..YO!
Be perfect for magazine sellers wanting an easy postage method & for PP protection.

Unfortunately I think it is wishful thinking. But good idea all the same.

I would like one in between - 500g - 3kg is a large difference.
How about a 1.5kg ? If you find out where to ask joz, can you throw my question as well?

It's a great idea. 🙂
Unfortunately, my understanding is that AP make a loss on posting large letters, and the only reason they are so cheap is that legislation prevents AP from raising the price.
So I can't see them doing anything to encourage people to use them. (eg charge 50 cents to stamp a "certificate of posting" or create a paypal compatible clickandsend envelope).

As to your actual question, why not post your suggestion on Australia Post's facebook page?

Joe, Aust Post do produce a range of prepaid flat rate Large envelopes, they come in 4 sizes
(two of which are large enough for thin magazines/booklets up to 20mm) but of course there is no 'tracking' or anything as they go by regular mail out with the postie on his rounds, not with parcel contractor.
You can get this large envelopes in Registered Post too but the largest is $5.10 up to 500gr/20mm

for mainstream stuff Putney, magz for 5 bucks or so i dont think the buyers would buy it, but i do go for registered mail occasionally on more expensive magazines for PP protection....its a hassle taking a trip to the PO for them though
