From what I've read, "Chinese Auction" is just a rename of the format, but there have been no changes to the actual auction process.
I have no idea why, unless they're planning some hare-brained shceme where, if you list at auction, the starting price has to be between 1c-99c. Or, they could be reintroducing some form of the Dutch auction, which would have multiple quantities available, whereas the Chinese auction is for a single quanity listing.
Or...after reading how a Chinese auction works (i.e. buy a ticket or tickets, the more you buy the more chance you have of being the successful winner of an auction, if you put all your tickets in one basket anyway), maybe they're going to introduce a thing similar to those other "auction" sites that were hammering their advertising a few months ago - the ones where you have to purchase bids, then use them to try and get $2000 TVs for $50 ?? So a bunch of people end up paying for one person to "win" a TV for cheap. They couldn't be that silly, surely?
