Hi I have received 4 phone calls today from Australian phone numbers. Claiming they are from Ebay and asking me to download an App.
They said my account was compromised.
Is this the correct way for me to be contacted ?
Once I told them 3 times to contact me through ebay i havn't heard anymore so far.
Regards Nifty
SCAM CALLS.
eBay doesn't telephone members.
In fact most companies don't.
They will either message through an account, email or send normal mail.
If you have given scammers personal details about your eBay account, start by changing the password, maybe even the username, but most importantly the password. If you have given them bank details, you will have to cancel the card associated with those details.
@billbillman01 Have you downloaded anything a scammer told you to? Have you pressed 1 after getting a scammer phone call? Have you clicked on links in phishing email? If yes to any or all of those, then in most likelyhood, you can expect to be hacked (at best) but if you have any doubts at all, or have the smallest reason to believe you might have been hacked, then you need to follow the advice already given
If you have simply gotten a scammer phone call that many people get every day, then it is most likely just that, a scam phone call hoping you will press 1/download something/click something sent to you
It is good advice to change your password on a regular/semi regular basis anyway
SCAM...oh how I wish eBay would ring me 😎
I too have had phone calls from "ebay" indicating my account has been compromised.
The caller wanted access to my phone. Asked if it was an Iphone, android etc , do I have a computer or Ipad..
I was asked to switch my phone to speaker and following prompts download an App and a form to be completed before "dodgy" transaction could be cancelled.. well NO I did not. I told her she was scamming me, she hung up in a huff.....
