I am miffed as to why it takes certain sellers almost a week to actually post a won item after receiving a msg from eBay to say it has been 'SENT'. Sent does not mean posted and it is very misleading to a buyer. I experienced this very problem most recently and as a result, the item I won arrived a number of days beyond eBay's predicted delivery dates. Can anything be done to alleviate this situation? If a seller is using ebay postage the item is marked as sent as soon as the seller processes the label.

The tracking is only activated once the seller posts the item and it is scanned.

When the parcel arrives is calculated by adding the seller's handling time to the AP estimated delivery time not the time the item is marked as sent.
