Scamming is apparently allowed on ebay.

So I bought a video game account on ebay. I didn't mind that it said "local pickup only" because you're not going to post a digital item either are you?

After buying I messaged the seller 3 times over the next week to no response. I opened an item not received case which turned out to be pointless because ebay does not step in on these types of orders apparently.

I did the live chat with ebay support 3 times because they said they would escalate and get back to me about it but didn't, and on the third time they told me that because it is a digital item and it said in the listing details "(Not eligible for eBay purchase protection programs)", they won't refund/cancel my order; telling me to report the seller (which i'd done weeks ago) and to keep sending them messages...

‘Apparently’

That is correct

digitally delivered items are not covered

And depending on what kind of ‘video game account’ it was possibly something that should not have been listed or bought in the first place

Wjat you were told on live chat is what their pre written script tells them to say, it was never going to happen

"PayPal is always looking for ways to make shopping safer. Buyers purchasing intangible goods (such as digital goods) and services can now be covered by Buyer Protection"

If you paid with Paypal, file a dispute.

Or try a chargeback with your bank.

Not the first time this has happened and eBay will either give the scammer your money or eBay will keep your  payment  !

When you purchased this item the listing would have warned you that it is not covered by The eBay Money Back Guarantee.

what is the item number, please?
