THIS FORUM > Unanswered Questions VERY OLD

Hi all, and hopefully read by a MOD

I was just typed some replies on the other boards, and noticed that there were other "Unanswered Questions" in the pane on the right side of the page.

So I clicked on the first Unanswered Question, and wrote up a helpful response. Then I noticed that the question was asked way back in 2022.

Looking further into it, I notice that the last edit was by a MOD who might have deleted any replies, but had not locked the thread. Hence its status remains "unanswered", and perhaps that pushed the question to the top.

That is silly, because it would make it appear that I was "necro-ing" (bringing up a dead thread). 🤔

Is there a way to stop doing that ??

That thread in question was only edited by the the OP (the member who posted it)

And it's now locked

I don't know how many posts mods 'just happen' to read, but you can always self report your own thread and request they read your request

Many of us have asked numerous times for old threads to be locked, but that has not happened

Or

You can look at the date the post was posted

Or sort by date in general

Yep - stop - take a look at the date of the thread.

Then ignore.

Even more frustratingly, many (perhaps all) of those “unanswered” questions were at one point answered.

There was a purge - possibly unintended - during a forum clean-up, and it had the effect of deleting replies to questions, as well as deleting saved tags and probably a few other things.

Because the pace on these boards is so slow, you can bet your boots that there aren’t any genuinely unanswered questions.
