Well done Rama, it's encouraging to hear actuals from others! Please keep sharing ๐Ÿ™‚

2011/2012 was our first full financial year with the B&M version of The Book Cellar in addition to the eBay store. The B&M did relatively well, under the same 'taxing' circumstances that all book sellers and anyone in retail in Tassie & elsewhere is experiencing. Compared to the previous 6 months when it was first opened, and month by month, we see slow but steady growth in sales and volume. We feel that as long as that trend continues, then so shall we. The challenges of being in a rural, albeit highway, location, & in one of the oldest properties of its kind in Oz, & online vs BD, (& twins, &...)  have been numerous and heady, but tackling them one at a time we manage to see progress. eBay was, in a word, grim.

Spurred on by your reports of affordability and results, and the good outcomes our locally sweetie shop has seen, we have had a TV ad made for The Book Cellar which shall start airing in Tassie shortly. We realised after it was filmed that it has managed to capture an orb which is quite neat... we don't have ghosts in the convict cellars, but there is a history of orbs (if you're into such things!) Here's a link to the ad, https://vimeo.com/46017493 password books (not sure how long it will be at this location)

thanks again,

Cath

P.S. Stocktake was a killer... we have found another reason to sell books. It's preferable to doing the stocktake.

Thanks for the link Cath, love it.

What a beautiful book shop.

Let me know how your tv marketing goes.

I was offered 20 x 15 second adds during Master chef finals and other times, but missed the email doh!

The sales lady will still give me the same deal again except it won't have the top rating show to go with them.

I've got to try and get onto 72 as it's programs are what my target market watch.

The worst thing about the tv adds is people come in thinking the books they saw in the add would still be here even though the same add has been run over 4 different periods now. Those books sold during the first run lol.
