Greetings Booksellers,
Its taken me a few years BUT i am eventually running a full time used book business on Ebay!
A question tho to all serious booksellers......has anyone used promotions listing for books in a major way?
I havnt yet but willing to try it with most books if I can get enough peer group encouragement. I can see it working with clothes or elctronics stuff but what about books....please help!
Thanks

Have you tried dropping your prices first, before paying extra?

I am pretty confident in pricing the books I have listed , but more interested in if the promoting lstings works for books - thanks

Just a question - why do you need peer group encouragement. ??

that way they can blame the peer group if it fails. People don't want to make their own business decisions, easier to blame others.

Expensive books.
your postage seems all over the place, did you pick a figure, double it, add 2.79%, than just selected something random anyhow.

Wow! Its a simple question - I did not ask for an examination of by book selling business , I asked a simple question to see if its worked for any SERIOUS bookseller - not an inquisition from small time sellers

I don't and won't use promotions. I have no interest in paying eBay any more than I have to. Especially given store discounts for media are minimal.
I have a blanket 10% discount on sales over $20 and that's it.
I price my books for what they are worth (out of 2000 books listed, I have 2 best offers enabled).
I don't aim to compete with overseas sellers and I don't aim to be the cheapest Australian seller. There are a couple, plus newbies getting rid of stuff, who price far too low for me to compete with them, so I don't.

I too have a question... how do you know the replies you have received are "from small time sellers"?

Thanks Davewill1964 - good feedback. Yes , I dont try and compete with low overseas prices as well.
Like you , I use coupons on a regular basis .......and hardly ever list a book for the cheapest price otherwise the value of books just keep going down . cheers
