I've had enough excitement here for one day and am off to find my zzz's.

Good thing the weekend is coming up so we can play with all this new stuff.

I'm already starting my list of New Year Resolutions

1. Never post anything to South Africa. We don't send much there, but every single transaction has been difficult
2. Stop sending parcels by Economy Air earlier than late November
3. I'm sure I'll think of many more.

At the moment I'm getting frantic 'I bought this from you earlier this month and haven't received it yet' - er yes and that would be because you never paid for it.

I'm shutting up shop at 4pm today and then for the next 2 weeks there will be an auto-responder on all emails, with a link to my Returns Policy page. I'm not dealing with

*bought by mistake
*recipient already has it
*changed their mind
*didn't read item description properly

Well against my better judgement I am not far from putting a message up about the wet weather, road closures etc as it is still teeming down here and at the rate we are going, I doubt much will be going in or out of her very very soon 😞

Although having said that I am still getting sales and when I send the invoice/shipment info I am inserting a line about mail now not reaching the recipient in time for Christmas.

Judy I assume your website says change of mind returns are at buyers expense and must be in the condition sent?-
and that postage is NOT refunded?
and of course the recipient could just return the OTHER copy

hmmm the River allows sellers to charge a restock fee of up t0 20%
though I have never had a change of mind return online
and only one in store was over a month after purchase I said exchange only (full credit) and she stormed out in a huff

Therese, I don't accept change of mind returns.

In the past whenever a customer has asked about a return or exchange, it's always been a large, heavy, expensive book and while I pack those things very well, I have great doubts that it would make it back to me in the same condition as I sent it

The SA OCBA site http://www.ocba.sa.gov.au/consumeradvice/smartshopping/refunds.html states

You ARE NOT entitled to a refund if you:

* simply change your mind about something you have bought; or
* are responsible for the fault/defect; or
* were advised of the fault/defect at the time of purchase; or
* discover that the item can be purchased cheaper elsewhere.

I've had an interesting month with cancelled eCheques and Paypal transaction investigations. 3 cancelled eCheques - I don't send the items until payment clears after getting bitten once, and 2 investigations - hadn't sent the items and just asked PP to cancel the transactions. One customer paid by bank deposit, the other contacted me yesterday to ask where her stuff was. Either didn't receive my previous emails, or just ignored them. Too late, I'm closed.

Well, my last shipment will go out today, although still waiting on 1 payment and that would clear my pending pile 🙂
