I just noticed a pop up notice that eBay will be discontinuing this option - is this correct and if so why??

its correct.
I think that all parcels/satchels are now tracked with an added fee for signature. This has replaced registered posting.

WOW what is next. I also seen that notice this morning, plus they are removing the Aus post regular post + tracking, Didnt auspost just introduce the so called easy as 123 new tracking on all satchels There is still no C & S option in the postage section when listing. So what are our options if we use C & S which has tracking provided. Way to many new rules & regulations to keep up with. My head is hurting.

that is because Australia Post have discontinued the Registered Parcel Post service, so of course ebay has to remove the option from listings, it does not exist any more.

the Click and Send is at the top of the postage options it is called
eBay Postage Services
500g and
3kg satchels
but the only option for Parcels with tracking is Regular Parcel + signature or +tracking

Only for parcels - not for letters. Letters, including large letters, can still be sent by registered post.
Many ebay sellers post via registered letters, including myself, so the registered post option should not have been removed, there was also no mention of parcel in this option when it was able to be selected.

I sell stamps. I ship stamps in envelopes only. I NEVER use parcel post. Some customers like their stamps sent by registered post. PrePaid ReG Post envelopes have NOT been "retired". Ebay will no longer allow me to use this option. I am angry and frustrated by this. I think corporate robotic automatons are running ebay at the moment. No flexibility, unlike the REAL world

NO yoda, C&S stay the same as they always were (just a bit more expensive!) nothing changes there with the satchels

I am in the same boat as far as sending stamps within registered letters, though I do sometimes use parcel post.
There is now NO option for selection of registered letters either within Australia or for International post yet these have not been removed from Australia Post's product range.
All the drop down menus provide are options for standard letters. I have to choose registered PARCEL for my postage cost descriptions when selling. This is a clearly ridiculous situation and is confusing for buyers.
I now have to add wording under each item description basically telling buyers that eBay have no options available for registered letters from the drop down postage menus and that is the reason I've had to choose the registered PARCEL option.
Sheer stupidity, do eBay management not even realise small, thin collectables such as stamps or trading cards do require a registered post !
