Buyer - Lied about item fault because they found something better later.....

So I sold a computer processor.  Left here working, was removed from a working machine, packed and sent.  I have witnesses.

I am a computer tech, I work in a computer store, 15 years experience, my daily job right.........

This guy gets it, I think he even left positive feedback.  A week after he gets it, I spot two messages in my inbox, one saying it's not working.....  and the second saying he had replaced it with a different processor and it worked fine even screen shotting me the processor he claims it worked with.

Problem was the screen shot showed the processor he just bought the same day of his complaint for $50 less, a newer faster model which he wouldn't yet receive for another week or two, to even have it to test.

Now I told him wait up, no your not getting a refund because you've changed your mind there is nothing wrong with the processor.

I pointed out 'dude you screen shotted me that you purchased that today'.  So long story short, I told him where to go and that he will need to lodge a dispute.  Little did I know despite my evidence ebay just went 'oh well he will send it back and you will refund him' without asking him a single question, without him having to answer a single one of mine.  I am a computer tech I had some basic questions for him.  Instead he sends me back pictures of how his rich has a ferrari or some BS in his garage *rolles eyes*.

Moving on........  So eBay requested he send it back so I was pretty annoyed..... hoping he hadn't broken it, that he'd wasted my time and just flat out lied and they supported him!  Without any evidence at all.

The real kicker.........  the guy didn't even send it for 2 weeks.....  why BECAUSE IT WORKS and he's been using it while he waited for the new processor to arrive........

I'm pretty darn annoyed at eBay.  You know how many Intel processors are faulty?  In 15 years I can say I've come across about 5-10.......  out of thousands.

What can you do, you cant even leave them a negative, response to their feedback.  This guy is 100% full of ****.

He didn't have a genuine claim, he didn't ask for help.  He just was a *not very kind words*.  Some kid obviously who bought something found something cheaper and better after receiving it and lied about it not working to pay for this other one.

Thats not how life works............ eBay!

Sellers PAY THE BILLS...........  not BUYERS.  I think eBay should really look at who they are supporting here.

I even showed them the dates, his screen shots.........  I contacted the other computer place and let them know about this guy incase he changes his mind on them......

It sucks so bad there are people out there like this and that eBay supported his poor behaviour.  Had he asked for help and actually may have had an issues.........  but no, he's just a ................

So what is your question?

This is 'Ask a member' after all. Not that it matters - eBay neither read nor respond to board posts and will not usually side with sellers.

My unsolicited say is that you have now found out that eBay favours buyers. Heavily.

Did you get the processor back? The buyer has a limited time to return it before the claim times out.

As an aside, you can get the neg removed by ebay.

He's mentioned a dispute.

Haven’t got the processor back yet. Says the disputes been put on hold. My question I guess is, is there any other avenue i can take to fight it? Like an email address/contact for eBay etc

At the top and bottom of every page there is a 'help' tab

There you will find contacts for eBay

In something like this, you are best off using the Have Us Call You option and asking for a supervisor. Just ringing the overseas call center is 100% pointless and Live Chat would not be much better

Email is a waste of time as it is an automated bot system

Having said that, eBay side with the buyer 99% of the time, even if the buyer is the biggest scammer going. Sellers do not matter to eBay, it is all about the buyer

You maybe better off contacting ACORN if all else fails

Got the processor back today.  Went about testing it.  Looked fine at first didn't work.  Looked closer at it, noticed a bent corner.

The idiot clearly installed it incorrectly, I work as a computer tech in a repair shop.  I see it all the time....  there are notches when you install it and if you install it wrong it bends up the end when you goto lock it down.

He lied.  He damaged it.  I bent it straight, works fine.  There is absolutely no chance it was damaged in the post due to how it was packed.  So he's installed it wrong, went the processor then it didn't work.....

eBay didn't ask any questions for any photos the buyer didn't ask for any help........  whether he lied and then bent it up himself hoping it wouldn't work when I got it back who knows.

I've decided to keep it now, it works....... so I just bought a mainboard and ram to support it I'll take it home....

It's really turned me off eBay.........  they sit there on their high horse like their professioal.  From all the evidence we've dediced to support the buyer.

WHAT EVIDENCE?  You mean the ones I sent you you didn't look at, you mean how you didn't bother to ask the buyer ANYTHING AT ALL, didn't ask for any photos........  nothing.  The buyer in question has left negatives for EVERY single item they've bought in the past month approx 6-7.......   they've constantly listed 'not received the item'....... about 6-7 in a straight line.....  in their feedback for other sellers.

Like I dunno what eBay are smoking but his guy should have been kicked off long ago........  oh look a screen shot shoing the proecssor up and running.....

EBay will always side with the buyer, regardless of any evidence shown. I hope you only refunded him the purchase amount and not the postage.

If he negs you, ring eBay and get them to remove it. Get them to check messages between you (they can see them). There is enough evidence in the messages that he has tampered with it that they should remove any bad feedback.

Oh, and add him to your blocked buyer list, so if you do list anything else, he can't revenge buy for the sole purpose of leaving bad feedback. http://offer.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?BidderBlockLogin
