Listing and seller removed: how likely is it that I will get my order?

Hi guys,

Yesterday I paid for an order and today have found that the listing and seller have been removed. The ebay message suggests:

"Since you've already paid for the item, you don't need to do anything else. If your item hasn't arrived yet, it should arrive soon. If it doesn't, then you'll want to open a case in our Resolution Centre. You can learn how to do this, plus find timelines for opening cases, at..."

How likely is it that I would received my order in this situation? I don't feel comfortable about waiting for what feels like an unlikely outcome; my item hasn't been shipped or anything. I can't imagine the seller bothering to send my item now that they are kicked off ebay without a way for me to contact them. Would you advise/am I able to open a resolution case ASAP? Or do they force you to wait for a delivery that is unlikely to happen?

The seller had a high rating and lots of sales btw.

Would appreciate it if anyone could shed light on the situation for me.

Thanks heaps.

This is my first ebay purchase so I'm very un savy about it all. I'm going to take your advice though and open a dispute right away. Thanks heaps for the reply.

That means 180 unsatisfied buyers who left feedback. And probably at least as many who left neutrals.

Given the timeframes, ie 1 day, I would be getting my money back as soon as I can.

Since you've found the place, it might pay to have a read of the buying board. You will get invaluable insight into how to buy on eBay without having too many issues.

It is always a good idea to check the seller's feedback page (click on the 'number' next to or uder the seller's user name)

That page, at the top shows you where the seller is registered

Then you can look at their feedback underneath to see if they have a lot of red marks (negs) and comments if they have a habit of things like, lying where items are sent from, if they never send items at all or if they sell a lot of faulty items

On your feedback, the seller that is no longer registered is not high rated, in fact their feedback is terrible

Given they are in China, I would say it is very unlikey they would have/will send your item

I would be opening a dispute as soon as the system allows you to do so

As a general rule, most members here recommend being wary of high-volume sellers with less than 99.5% feedback.

Also, Chinese sellers in particular commonly state the product is in Australia when most of the time it is actually in China.

Thanks for the heads up! I don't suppose you have any tips on how to identify these types of listings? I still want to purchase this thing but I'll be paranoid that it's not shipping from Aus now.

I've taken this advice and was super surprised (after what I've been reading) and happy that Ebay got back to me straight away and gave me full refund when they failed to find a tracking number for the order.

Definitely going to give that a read. Not the best start to using Ebay...

Thanks.
