I have already reached out to the seller to ask if an item was covered by a warranty as it's stopped working.
They replied to my eBay contact asking that I submit a 'return request'; but I can only find the instructions on how to do that. I'm not returning the item for a refund, I'm returning the item for a warranty replacement.
The item was purchased 2nd Feb.

Unless the seller is an Australian registered member AND is authorised to sell or resell the item, the warranty is worthless.

Return requests only work for a short time (I think like MBG).
It is too late for an official return.
Is the seller an authorized reseller?
If you want to send it back without opening a request, make sure the seller really intends to do something (either repair it or send a replacement), as there are not many sellers who do that when they are not authorized resellers, and as you had to ask about the warranty in the first place, I doubt they are. If you send it back, you will most probably also lose the money for postage, sadly.
Is it an expensive item?
Sadly, it is now too late also for PayPal (180 days since the date of purchase).

Way out of time for a 'return request'
They seller would know that, and given them avoiding what you are asking it seems very unlikely they are an authorised seller, therefore there would be no warranty regardless of what the ad 'said'
What is the item number?

Hi,
Seller has been great, is the one that recommended doing the return request, they've agreed to process a refund for me, so i can buy another.

I hope the seller is really honest and is really going to do what he promises. We are only advising to be cautious here because some sellers are nice, make promises and then disappear, but there are also honest sellers of course.
Personally, I have always received replacements, even untracked, or refunds, but I always buy from sellers with very good feedback. I hope your seller is one of these. Let us know how it goes.

You just have to be aware of the fact that you rely on the seller's honesty, and that neither eBay nor PayPal nor anybody else can help you.

I also hope they are on the level
The seller, as mentioned, would be well aware it is not possible to do a return request after all this time, so them suggesting you do it says a lot
What is the seller's feedback (as a seller) like ?
