Should I open an ebay return and do it through the ebay thing or through messages? I messaged seller saying I want to return the item he sold me because on the box it says "remanufactured" and his listing said brand new and unopened and he said sure no problem and gave me an address to return it to. So should I just go along with this or open official return?

Even though the seller has agreed, I would go the MBG through eBay, that way the seller is required to provide a return label, no error can be made in the address and you won't have to pay to return it.
Also this seller has a couple of negs re bad communication so I would say proceeding though the correct channels would be best IMO

If it was me I'd open a case with eBay's MBG (money back guarantee)for "item not as described", they should rule in your favour and if the seller is in Australia they will have to send you a return postage label.
