Tracking says delivered to our address. Not true.

Hello All.

We purchased an item from USA. It was being sent via the Global shipping program through Fedex.

We followed the tracking through USA, Sydney, and then to Perth Airport,  where things became odd.

Parcel due to arrive today.  Checked tracking this afternoon.  Imagine our surprise, and then stress, to read the Tracking

information stating 'delivered to our address 7.39am April 5, 2018.  Clearly this was not the case. No one had been here.

No deliveries. Kept watch full view of the driveway, and road.

Phoned and emailed Fedex, Australia post, asked ebay for assistance, even contacted the seller of the item to see if

they could help in any way.  No one else was.  No assistance anywhere.

Hugely STRESSFUL afternoon,  Apparently, Australia post and Star Track, have a practice of marking parcels delivered to addresses when clearly they have not been.  Because of this, we do not have a 'leg to stand on' due to tracking showing as delivered to recipient.

Have contacted Australia post again, with a request to cease their practice of marking tracking as delivered to addresses, when they have not been.  The 'missing' parcel was finally delivered late this afternoon.  Not at all happy with this practice of marking items delivered when they have not been.  It is not nice, or right. Things can go awfully pear shaped. it causes an enormous amount of stress.

Has anyone else experienced their tracking saying delivered, when it has not been?  It is not right.

Deborah.

Not with Ebay, but when buying something from a large company. Their tracking showed it was sent, then with local carrier, then delivered.

As we don't get any kind of parcel delivery here, & it was a pricey item, that was a worry.

Hoping we were right, we rang our local post office, & HOORAY, it was there, delivered by Star Track.

Told the company they should upgrade their tracking, naturally no response.

yes. a couple of years ago.....had no joy with eBay or A.P. so eventually PayPal refunded......took 6 months to sort out 😞
Seller was out of pocket....then they complained and PayPal refunded them as well

It was a dog's breakfast....goodness knows where the parcel is.....and that's Qld to S.A.

If it's coming through Fedex and they aren't going to deliver it themselves, it is marked as delivered when it is handed over to the carrier that is going to do the delivery.

Makes sense - it is then out of Fedex's hands and tracking system. Probably the only way to close it; otherwise it would be 'in transit' forever. AP would certainly assign their own tracking number once they get it. I imagine other carriers would do the same.

It would save angst if the tracking information were a little more clearly delineated (such as "delivered to carrier"). But tracking in Australia still has some way to go to equal some of the European mail tracking systems. Of course, their postage situation and population and transport systems are different, and we can be thankful that we have an online tracking system in Australia; I don't mean to denigrate that.

I'm just not sure that Australia Post is responding as effectively to current consumer expectations as it could be...
