Warning about a scam mentioning ebay

You get a call from a mobile number then a robot voice says "thankyou for purchasing from ebay. " and goes on to say that $349 dollars (or a similar number ..... it has changed a couple of times) will be taken from your credit card for an iphone 7.  It finishes by telling you to press 1 if you do not want to complete the purchase.  Then hangs up.   They tend to start ringing after about 3pm.

I do not know what happens if you press 1.

Please all be ware

Re: Warning about a scam mentioning ebay

yes it is a scam, If they say "thankyou for purchasing from ebay. " from the start you know its a scam as eBay does not sell anything.

Just hang up.

Re: Warning about a scam mentioning ebay

A few dozen threads about it already here (at least)

People who press 1 confirm they have a live phone number and are the type of people who go along with what scammers tell them too

eBay is just *one* place they pretend to be from, they say the same about several other companies too

Thanks so much for letting everyone know. We didn't get the idea from the other 89 threads about the same issue, so thank you!

Maybe if the OP restarts their NBN, and opts to use Edge that comes with Windoze 10, all will be OK, yeah?
