Can I pay with my credit card through pay pal even if i haven't got a pay pal account?

I live is Australia.  I want to buy an item from the UK from a seller who says they will only accept pay pal from overseas buyers.  Can I pay using my credit card even though I do not have a pay pal account?  Thanks, Maril.
