How do I cancel a transaction when the buyer does not claim the payment that I made and Pay Pal said I should cancel the payment

I won an auction and paid with PayPal on the 1st of October,I received no word from the seller even after I sent two emails.When I checked my PayPal account five days later the payment was still unclaimed still no word from the buyer.I contacted PayPal by telephone and was advised to cancel the payment which I did but I now wonder how Ebay will react to this
