Do the decent thing and pay for the item, and learn by your mistake. Sell it to someone else if you don't want it. It is grossly unfair and inconsiderate to ask a Seller to cancel, fees are taken from their account the moment you commit to buy, I am one of a growing number of Sellers who are fed up with non paying buyers who cause us no end of headaches, lost time and lost sales, and having to relist and recoup fees. The buying process couldn't be clearer, how could you not understand what you were committing to?

This "commit to buy" thing looks a bit like a fraud. I would understand if someone making shoes on custom order needs time to make them, but also needs a security that eventually shoes will be paid for. I don't understand why would the same logic apply to off-the-shelf items that the seller hasn't even started packing? What's the cost to the seller, except maybe some noise on the order side? I was personally caught into this because many order systems require you to just keep clicking on "Next" until you finally reach the page with the "Submit" button. I didn't realize I was caught into commitment well before the last page.

I would be surprised if the Commit To Order does not contravene the Australian Consumer Law. What does commit to pay mean? That a consumer can't change his or her mind? It couldn't mean that! I describe this as commit to pay entrapment icon . As a consumer, I should be able to review my shopping cart before I supply my payment details. It has nothing to do with what eBay's terms are they must comply with the consumer law. I selected an item twice by mistake and the eBay system is telling me I have to pay for two items. When I tried to edit the order back to one the system would not allow me to do so. This is illegal. I will take this up with the ACCC.

Wow! To those expecting buyer to contact seller to cancel the “committed” item, Your seller always 24/7 online and ready to help you cancel the order ? I doubt it and it’s only adding more hassle to both parties nothing else !

The seller does not have to cancel. Don't 'buy' stuff when you are'nt going to pay for it. Thank you for letting other members know you think this is ok to do to sellers

Might be different in The US where you are, here in Oz you would be getting a strike on your account and unable to buy from sellers who have blocks  in place against fake bidders

U don't just change your mind when you have committed to buy. When you push the button it's a legal contract to purchase.

But then if the seller won't ship after your commitment? Should be an instant dismissal of the arrangement.

Nope, if a buyer doesn't pay the seller should open an NPB dispute, the "buyer" will then get a strike against their account and the item can be relisted. Why should the seller send something that hasn't even been paid for ?????
