Outbid at last second

Hi there.  I keep getting outbid in the very last second when I've been the highest bidder for days - how on earth does this happen? Are there secret bids?  I'm sure the person isn't sitting there ready to swoop and it's always that they win by 50c more than me.  It's very frustrating.

Don't nibble bid.

Place one bid, for your maximum, as close the end of the auction as you can.

You still may not win, but you don't alert others as to how much you are prepared to pay.
