item blew up please help me resolve issue with seller

A humidifier blew up with a bang a while after I bought it but the time to report it to eBay was over and the seller has been giving me the run around ever since. I'm very lucky it didn't burn my house down!

Please help thanks

Unfortunately the seller you bought from is based in China and therefore you have no rights under Australian law.

Yes, you're lucky it didn't burn your house down as it probably wasn't up to Australian standards.

In future, you should always check the seller's feedback to see where they're registered before buying any electrical items.

You ARE very lucky

And it is also lucky it did not take neighbour's houses with it

Please do not buy electrical items from sellers in China in future, as mentioned they are not to Australian safety standards and are highly dangerous

@fabadelic,

I'm glad that you are okay (and presumably there were no other casualities in your family etc). This highlights exactly why buying electrical/electronic items from Chinese eBay sellers is a thoroughly wretched idea.

Please read this post for further information.

... Also, please don't risk your life, the lives of your family members, and your house and contents by trying to save a few dollars in buying from Chinese eBay sellers. Of course there are some good sellers in that category, but those who sell unbranded items, and those who - in particular - sell electrical/electronic items are simply too big a risk.
