As a buyer, how can I view and print a tax invoice for an item purchased on eBay?

You cannot print a Tax Invoice from ebay.   You can only print an invoice for the item plus postage that can be used for make a claim on your taxation return.

IF the seller is registered for GST and is elligible to issue a Tax Invoice he will send you that Tax Invoice with the goods.  If he forgets then just ask for it.

You only need a Tax Invoice if you are GST registered and can claim it on your BAS.....if not you only need the invoice you can print from ebay.

Whilst the seller is required by law to provide a tax invoice they very easily hide behind user names and as such we have no way of checking to see if they are registered and I find it very difficult to get tax invoices out of EBay sellers. I am now resorting to negative ratings if they don't provide me with a valid invoice showing who they are. These people appear to me to be evading their tax obligations. The ATO should be right on to this. I can't believe how fussy EBay are with all things except forcing their sellers to comply with the law.

Unfortunately Paypal is more like Visa, Mastercard and Amex. They are not a reseller but merely a payment conduit. They will make you go through hoops when it suits them but seems too hard to force GST registered businesses to issue tax invoices. It is so frustrating that I rarely make business purchases on EBay.
