What recourse do I have if a seller reneges?

I won a very highly priced item late Friday night intending to use paypal the next morning (my sleeping partner had the password).  Overnight my computer crashed and I was without access for a day.  I went online this morning to pay only to have a message from the seller saying he had "taken another bid and the item was sold".  Strange seeing as how I was the only bidder.  Do I have any recourse?  Do I report this to ebay?  Will he still have to pay ebay the fees (item was $2500)?  I guess it serves me right as the ebayer had zero feedback.

Yes they will still have to pay the fees on the sale you won.

If they send a mutual agreement cancellation, decline it.

You can still pay by paypal BUT sounds like they will not send it anyway and if they do not refund then you have to go via the dispute to get your money back.

You can leave a negative feedback for them to warn others but if it is a 0 FB member they might just get a new ID if they aim to sell more.

You can report the seller to ebay for non performing seller as well.
