Really?
I see they have already sold 3 pairs, are the buyers really tied to their end of the contract if they don't read this?

If the postage is in the listing you are agreeing to it when you bid/buy. So yes, anyone who buys the earrings is obliged to pay.
I assume you are looking at an overseas listing...possibly the USA where that would be about right for a priority mail service to Australia.

I hate to disagree with my first reply, but most of my friends live in America and the most I pay for a 'parcel' posted to them is around the $19 mark. I'm talking about postage charges of a pair of earrings. They would fit in an envelope.

Oh, and I don't know what I am talking about??? Is that what you are saying?
My husband is Canadian and has family in the USA as well, so I have been sending parcels and letters to both countries for over 30 years...and receiving them as well.
There is no way you can compare the US postal rates with Australia Post's rates.
If you google USPS and look at the rate for an Express Mail International Flat Rate Envelope from the USA to Australia you will find it is $38.00...far more than your seller is charging.
Many sellers will not use anything but Priority or Express International these days as it includes tracking and insurance for paypal purposes.

Whoa Lyndal, settle down, it was just a question, don't want to go frightening people away now do we?? ?:| From USA or not, $34 sounds a little exxy to me as well but on the other hand OP, if you don't like the charge you are under no obligation to do business with the seller

Yes greencat, it was just a question which I answered in post #1. The OP disagreed with me on the grounds that she can send parcels to the USA a lot cheaper and it was only a pair of earrings which would fit in an envelope.
I only pointed out AGAIN that you cannot compare AP's rates with USPS rates and indeed the postage for a flat rate ENVELOPE sent by a priority service, offering tracking and insurance for the seller is $38.00, which is more than the seller is charging.
This can be checked by going to the USPS website.

Yes of course they are.
Excessive or not ebay only act on reports of overcharging for postage before a listing ends, once you buy you have agreed to whatever the seller is charging and it is far too late to decide not to accept it.

I'm with Lyndal on this one.
I buy a fair bit of stuff from USA eBay sellers and the cost of getting things out here is very high. A lot of USA sellers have been burned by sending at cheaper posting rates and then getting hit with refunds for items that take time to arrive. International express with signature and insurance is what many will use for posting to Australia and that costs! I am fortunate enough to know someone in the USA that I get all my USA purchases sent to. He then puts them in a large flat rate box and sends them to me and I send him the postage by PayPal send money. This is the only way that I can get items with reasonable postage charge from the USA.

Ummm....Just because they sold 3 pairs does not mean the buyers paid that much in postage...(could be wrong)?
