After purchase items display unable to post to a PO box

I've purchased a couple of things over the last couple of days. Our set address is a PO box due to no mail service to our physical address. Despite never having any issues before, 3 items I've looked at or purchased have either indicated they didn't post to my country or region (even though listed as posts worldwide) or seller can't post to a PO box. No mention of it in the listing. One displayed this prior to buying so that was ok, one allowed me to buy and then I needed to contact the seller and they cancelled it, one I put an offer that was accepted and went to pay and same thing, no PO boxes.

Items aren't bulky, seller sends with Aus post.

Is this an eBay issue or glitch? It's getting really annoying. Coincidentally all similar items (welding goggles/helmet/lenses) so no reason these wouldn't be posted.

Any ideas?

Depends on the seller - it's a postage preference found under the Site Preferences section where the seller can exclude countries/places they don't want to post to, and at the bottom of the list the seller can also select PO Boxes. I think some sellers select it thinking that it means PO Boxes in another country, but don't realise it applies to PO Boxes in Australia as well.

Perhaps contact the seller and ask them to unclick the preference and then hit "apply".

where i was living before my current address i had no mail delivery to my home but had a post box at the local post office.

i found if i supplied my actual home address to ebay sellers the post office were smart enough to stick a card in my box saying i had parcels to collect.

try talking to your post office to see if that would happen with your mail.

it certainly made my delivery life easier.

ect ect

dunno if it would work, just a thought popped into my head

Not really because they are 2 different towns 5 km apart. Same postcode but 2 different post offices. Plus if we do address to residential it adds approximately 2-4 weeks to the delivery time. Small town. Say no more.

Why not sign up for a parcel locker?

Small towns generally don't have them.

Mypost, I believe will allow items to be delivered to (and held at) the street address of a PO.

Yes, you are correct regarding the lockers, they are only in the city. There's always the option of Parcel Collect through My Post, but still being in its infancy, there are a few issues with that. Main one being, you don't get the text message, email or notification on the AP app. Then when you go to collect it, it's absolute torture for the PO. They have to punch all this garbage into their scanner. It went something like this.

Hit exit, then exit again, then exit again, then key in the PO code, then exit, then punch in a whole heap of other numbers, hit the back button, then press escape, then exit a few more times, then scan the parcel, punch in a whole heap of other numbers, then hit exit and escape a few more times, then scan the My Post card, hit back a few times, then hit exit and escape a few more times, then scan the parcel again, punch in a heap of numbers, hit exit and escape a few more times, hit the back button a few times, scan the card again, scan the parcel again, blah, blah blah. Seriously, I stopped counting the steps after 50. I am not kidding.

During those steps they paused to curse me. I don't know who designed the program, but it's absolutely ridiculous. If you had multiple parcels to collect and went at a busy time, it could make the line extend even further. No joke again, it took nearly 20 minutes to collect one parcel. The post master begged me not to have anything sent via Parcel Collect until the system had improved.

That said, for the odd parcel that needs a residential address, I'd use it if something couldn't be delivered to my house. Only thing I would say is, be prepared for it to take awhile to collect it and do the PO a favour and go at a time that it's not normally that busy.

I have this problem with all sorts of things. Our post office advises to put the box number after the street address as some automated readers online will not acept the word BOX at all. So for instance my address now becomes

J Bloggs

5 Nowhere Street 345

township

WA 0000

I even have trouble convincing banks, all govt departments, and many others that there are NO street deliveries other than those by courier, end even some of them go via the post office! Even when I fill forms in with postal address different from residential they still get it wrong! Cant expect the post office to take the time to look up every box number when there are well over a thousand boxes.
