All in the wording - Free Postage

I really wish instead of "Free Postage" the wording was changed to "Price Includes Postage".

It would certainly sound more realistic.

Sellers have been begging eBay for months for a more 'honest' option such as 'Postage Included'. Fell on obviously deaf ears.

Just do what you did with 'Buying' - only choose 'Selling'.

Would be more honest.
However need to also realise that people (SHOPPERS) respond very well to "FREE".

It would make a lot more sense, but ebay obviously thinks the word 'free' is a drawcard.

From what I can gather, there is no real problem with it until something goes wrong and a buyer wants to return an item.

Then they expect 'free' postage back and paypal doesn't include that.

'Free' does attract buyers. I have seen it so many times. A seller will have an auction starting at 1c with $9.99 postage and the same, identical item starting at $9.99 with free postage. The free postage one always gets far more bids and sells for a higher overall price.

Thats very interesting i-love-my-sheep.

As I mostly sell books, some of the postage costs are either $7+ or $13+ .

I do offer free postage to large letters, but I am reluctant to on the larger ones.

If I was to sell a book for $9.95, then I need to cover the "free" postage cost I would have to sell for say $17.95.

I am trialling it to see how they will go but I am writing (when I have space) in the subject & description that "price includes postage costs".
