Hi all,
I was just wondering what I should do in this situation.
I bought a rather expensive item on Monday and paid for it on Monday. Well today I noticed that it still hadn't been marked as 'sent' and thought I'd ask the seller (politely) if they had sent it yet, since I know some sellers don't mark their items as sent.
I was hoping to get the item either at the end of this week or the start of next week, but I thought 'no biggie. The seller's handling time is two days and I don't mind waiting a couple of extra days.'
Well I just received an abrupt message from the seller saying:
'whatever. it will be sent tomorrow or Monday.'
Am I wrong for being a bit miffed by this? I mean, I know that sellers can have busy lives, but I kinda wanted it at least posted some time this week. Or at least get some sort of communication/message to tell me that they wouldn't be posting it until the following Monday.

Let your feed back reflect your satisfaction.
If its just a part time seller selling personal items I may be inclined to be a little more generous and feel neutral about it.
However if its a ebay store seller I would be very negative about the transaction.
Don't forget to mark the stars suitably, don't leave them blank.

No I dont think you are being unreasonable. If the seller states a handling time of two days then within that two days it should be in the post. Keep the abusive email also. When item received I would red neg them for postage time AND communication, hence keeping the email as proof when the seller will most likely ask for the neg removal from eBay.
A busy life should be NO excuse to delay postage. All sellers should be grateful their item sold and do their best to keep a satisfied customer. No doubt you will not buy from them again after this.
If you dont receive the item by Monday then open a dispute for item not received.

You are not being unreasonable at all. If the seller cannot meet the time stipulated in their handling time then they should advise you before it is due to be posted advising you of the delay.
Secondly, the response was plain rude. They should offer an apology for the delay, and if posting a week after payment is received (with a 2 day handling period), they should be sending it express.

Thanks everyone ๐
I actually told the seller in the message that I'd be willing to pay more to receive the item via Express Post, but I only received the 'whatever. it will be sent tomorrow or Monday.' response. I sent another message restating that I'd be willing to pay more for Express, but am yet to get a response. Though they have since marked it as "sent" so I'm guessing they ended p sending it Regular.
I don't think I'll give a negative feedback because it technically hasn't been a bad transaction. If I receive the item in good condition, I'll just be happy to get it for the price I got it for. But I think I'll definitely be leaving a neutral. ๐

most importantly leave low stars for communication and postage time. Only 1 or 2 stars really hurt sellers. But 0 does not count. I think in this case 1 is warranted.

You do realise that just because it is marked as posted doesn't mean it has been posted?
