It seems to have become normal practice for sellers to end auctions early if the bids are low either that or the are many clumsy sellers which either break, loose etc the item as that the reaso they use

but by some miracle they manage to find the item and relist soon after lol

which there was some way to eliminate these scamers from my searches that would save me wasting my time bidding

@ 1sweetap6v8  I believe not getting what they want comes under a mistake in reserve/ listing price

OH and you just posted the rules yourself just because people are willing to flaunt those rules don't mean its Ok there is just limited evidence to be able to stop them but we all know the real reasons no matter how much you want to pretty it up to something else to allow yourself and others to hoodwink eBays policies for the benefit of yourselves.

No different to when people cancel bids 3 options pick one no matter if its true or not that be the likes of the dishonest .

I suggest you direct your attempts of reasoning with the OP not me as you just proved there is no provision to end a auction early because you didn't get what you wanted for it. Which is what this is about you just shot yourself in the foot as you just posted the very rules I spoke of and it does not allow the cancelling of auctions due getting a lower than expected or wanted price.  If you choose one of your options you posted and relisted it then you would simply be a dishonest rule breaking liar come scammer exactly what this is all about.  Now I bet you have used them falsely and what's that make you.?

@belindabargainhunter   This is not about auctions with reserves its about unreserved auctions, you don't need a rule for not reaching a reserve it simply isn't sold having a reserve is the rule.  Totally different.

From a seller's point of view I would just like to say there also seems to be an increase in the number of buyers retracting their bids - usually stating they bid the wrong amount but surprisingly they don't place another bid as per ebay policy.

Some of these buyers have made several hundred bid retractions over the last 12 months.

From a seller's perspective that is just as frustrating as what it is for the buyers if a seller ends an auction early.

there are services available online that will end auction for you if the bid is below a certain they also offer to relist the item if required

against the rules or no ebay would more than likely do nothing as all the 1 cent state auction generate a lot of page views which appears to become a big earner for ebay

My brother in law uses a similar method to bid he bids extreme high and if the bids go higher than he wants to pay he messages the seller a says he not going to complete the deal giving an excuse

most sellers seem to just cancel sure some want to press the point but they really are wasting their time as ebay won't force him to complete the deal at worst eventually ebay suspends his account he just gets new one

Sorry dotcom but once the seller decides to sell on ebay they need to follow ebays rules and they should follow through. My money is my money till I hand it over but if I bid for something regardless of finding it cheaper, deciding it's not what I want I still need to pay. Both parties need to do the right thing to make ebay work

Indeed. Including the rule that they can end a listing any time up to 12 hours before the end. The rules that apply are ALL the rules that apply. Not just the ones convenient to particular members' wishes.

If an auction hasn't ended then this does not apply. If the seller (owner until sold) decides to end early, then that is it. eBay allow such, therefore it is within eBay's rules. Regardless of your opinion.
