If my eyesight could be damaged by wearing incorrect lenses then no way would I buy them on ebay or anywhere else where I couldn't take them back to the shop if they turned out to not be what I paid for. Even if they said they were compliant I would take as much notice as I would of the sellers claiming their frames are Chanel, D&G or any other designer brand.

Pharmacy sunglasses are not that expensive - $30? Go to OPSM and you'd be lucky to walk out with a pair for under $200!

category 1 - clear with a UV filter
Category 2 - Gradient lens dark at the top lighter at the bottom
Category 3 - dark lens - shades for brown / grey / blue / green
Category 4 - hard to get - so dark it is illegal to drive in them
You need to look at band name with GOOD lenses with polarised lenses to reduce glare
EG - Maui Jim, Spotters, Serengeti, Bolle'
Be aware - none of the good brands will warranty anything you buy online - too many fakes!

I dont know about you but my eyesight is too precious to me to not be willing to spend a few dollars more to get exactly what I require in sunglasses
no way would I trust in a cheapie off ebay.

While I can see this as being an attractive option - I for one rate my eyesight right up there with breathing. I'll go the OPSM every day of the week and twice on a Sunday

You can get good sunglasses from the Blind Society and maybe Guide Dogs for the Blind but not too sure about them.
Both have websites so that you can find out if they have an office/shop near you or maybe buy from them by mail order/online.
I have an office/shop locally so it is easy for me.

Even if I saw a listing stating the category sunglasses I needed, I would no way in hell buy them anymore than I would buy medication from an "online pharmacy".
OP, it's probably a very very bad idea buying them anywhere except a store you can actually return them to if need be (as PJ said).

I had cataract surgery on both eyes when I was in my early forties. There's no way I would buy sunglasses on ebay. Go to a chemist or a shop that sell them. That way you can try them on to see how they fit and see if they suit you. That's something you can't do on ebay. Also, if you then have a problem with them, you can either take them back or talk with someone who works in the shop.
If you already wear glasses, maybe you could invest in prescription sunglasses. Or buy some of those sunnies that fit over your glasses.
Please, please, please, don't buy them on ebay.
