I just bought a nespresso machine from a seller with no feedback.

They joined Ebay on 07/04 and sold 10 machines on 08/04

The description said they were a 'top rated seller'

The item was said to be ready for shipping from melbourne but the seller is in Qld

Their email wasnt linked to their paypal account, and they didnt clear payment for a day.

The item has not been shipped

I'm getting no response from emails or phone calls

It looks like a Scam listing to me.

It's a copy /paste of a real top rated seller's listing in Melbourne, except it's much cheaper.

If the payment's cleared, I suggest you log on to Paypal and file a Dispute immediately.

Escalate to a claim as soon as the system allows.

It's a really lazy scam too...

1. Top rated sellers don't have 0 feedback

2. It's listed up the top as free express postage, further down it says item will be sent by e parcel and must be signed for on delivery

3. You are unlikely to find a brand new Nespresso Coffee machine for under $500

4. You're lucky the seller didn't have "a problem" with their PayPal account and ask you to pay with Bank Transfer

Just as well you paid with PayPal... At least you have a better chance of getting your money back

Didn't you pay with Paypal?

If so, you should be going through them in the first instance.

If you paid by bank deposit, the chances of the bank recovering your money are basically ZERO.

There was no need to contact your bank once you opened a Paypal dispute, you would have got your money back through them but doing a bank chargeback automatically cancels the Paypal dispute. I hope you explained to your bank that it was a Paypal payment, I would be concerned at their statement that they will get the money back from the merchant, the payment, as far as the bank is concerned, has nothing to do with the merchant and not all banks, especially on line only ones and CUs, cover 3rd party transactions done through Paypal.

I was just covering all my bases.

The bank is aware that I have lodged a dispute with Paypal. It does not cancel out the Paypal dispute. If Paypal resolves it first, I just need to notify the bank.
